Women's Program

This is the gateway to other services provided by Breaking Free. After an initial intake assessment is completed, a plan is established and enacted.

Most women enter this program in a state of extreme crisis, often lacking basics needs such as shelter and food, and in need of immediate medical attention for the treatment of illness, injury and/or addiction.

Sisters of Survival

Once the emergency conditions are dealt with, the women begin a 14-week, intensive education group to examine prostitution as a slave-based system, the impact prostitution has had on their lives, and issues related to addiction and recovery.

Women will discuss: parallels between prostitution and slavery, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, childhood sexual abuse, symptoms and patterns of depression, self-esteem, coping with feelings of hopelessness/ helplessness, anger, and cognitive skills. This session also includes Life/Job Skills training through our partnership with The HUBBS Center.

Most often women in Sisters of Survival also participate in individual and group therapy. Addressing prostitution and the impact is has on a woman’s life often opens doors to many additional issues that can be intensely stressful and emotionally challenging. As a result, individual and/or group therapy are critical components for an individuals recovery from prostitution. This is a closed group, open only to current participants.

Journey to Success/Alumni Group

This program involves on-going group meetings for women who have successfully completed the 14-week program. Topics include relationship issues, building self-esteem, life and job skills, money management, and health care.
